Day 6 – Cheating Complete! #fb

First, Breakfast:

We were out of eggs, so I dove into the shredded turkey Chelsea prepped a while back, added my black beans (how do so many people not like these?!? yum!), and then some frozen spinach. Spiced it up with come Cayenne pepper, garlic salt, oregano, and pepper. Seriously delicious!

Today, we’re going to go shopping and setup some Slow Carb Cookbook meals! I’m super stoked to try the shepherd’s pie. Mmmmm

On cheating:

I was super excited to stuff up with the forbidden list, but I didn’t do enough pre-planning. The Four Hour Body suggests that you have a bit of fruit juice before a cheat meal to awaken all the good stuff in you to go after that gnarly meal. We were at a conference downtown and I neglected to look for a good source of fruit juice (even though I passed a Starbucks that I know had Naked Juice. #personalfail)

On the plus side, we briskly walked half a mile to Horton Plaza to grab some Angus Burgers. Chelsea watched the food while I did some pre-meal arm workouts with a handy dandy band, coupled with some ab conractions. I’m sure I looked like I was having a seizure to the rest of the patrons, but they didn’t have a bathroom to do the suggested stall workout. Of cours, then had a brisk walk back.

For dinner, again I went lax and ordered a Zombie as a pre-meal fruit, which although it had fruit juice in it, was probably not what the diet intended. No workout for dinner.

After dinner we went to a celebration of a friend’s life, who left us way too soon. It was hard seeing everyone there and the longer I was there, the more I reached for a Jack/Coke to try to numb it.

On the bright side, I did get my Snickers on the way home! Very stoked for that =]

Lessons Learned:

  1. Have mass quantities of water handy. I was dehydrated all day
  2. When dumping in dumpster grade food, be prepared to need to dump! Factor in toilet needs. I poo’d 3x, and probably should have poo’d 6x. …wow…
  3. Prepare a “overnight bag” with needs. incl: eggs, black beans, salsa, Tapatio, cinnamon, juice, water, workout bands, and TP (jk)
  4. Take pictures! I kept forgetting to photo-document.

On with the stats!!

Weight: 225.8 lbs

Body Fat 24.4%

Note: The body fat took a huge swing, but that might just be the scale. It may fluctuate based on hydration, which was low before I started drinking last night.

About the Author

The world changed for me about two months into my M.B.A. program. While I have always risen quickly to management roles, learning how to truly be a part of a business and its many systems began to really excite me. While I have loved taking out-dated processes and digitizing them for cost savings, I am excited to take my project mangement experience to greater heights and really contribute to a company's growth as the head of a team excited to drive change. -Justin Velthoen
